Hotaru and her father, Professor Tomoe, were possesed in Sailor Moon S, and were powerful enemies with the senshi. Saturn was possesed by Mistress Nine who wanted to summon her master, Pharoah 90 to put the world in an eternal slumber. However, Sailor Moon healed her and turned her into an infant. In Sailor Stars, she ages very rapidly in the beginning of the season and matures in just 3 episodes. She goes to the same school as Chibiusa/Rini, who was the only person she was able to make friends with. Her weak body and natural healing ability alienated her from everyone else, but Chibiusa was able to see past that and her dark past. As Sailor Saturn, she has more destructive power than all of the other senshi combined, but is reluctant to unleash her power.
